We are trying to rebuild our roster of servers. If your child served pre-COVID or would like to become an altar server, please contact the office. All youth who have received their First Communion and are entering 4th grade in the Fall of 2021 or older are encouraged to serve at Mass.
School Year 2021-22
We will be continuing with a family-based faith formation program for grades K-6, but we will be using a different curriculum in the coming year. This curriculum is called Family Formation. It was created by a Minnesota parish and has been used and improved upon there over many years. This program offers the benefits of a family based program while also providing opportunities for building community and supporting parents in their efforts in being their child's primary catechist. For those preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion, we will be using Signs of Grace again. The families who used Signs of Grace this year were very positive about their experiences with the program. Parents are the primary catechists with this program. Parents will participate in an adult faith formation program (2 meetings for each Sacrament) to help reacquaint them with the Sacrament and give them confidence to lead their child through preparation. Parents will also have access to an online platform to help with working through the lessons.
To create the best experience we can, we are going to need a team of volunteers to help make these programs possible. If you know someone who has a heart for working with children- we will need catechists for the monthly classes and babysitters for younger siblings (younger than Kindergarten) during parent meetings. We will also need parent coaches to work with parents during the monthly parent meetings and small group leaders for the sacramental prep meetings.
For an overview of how we will be using these programs you can see the google slides below:
Now that we are allowed to gather for public Mass, you might need a refresher of some of the basics. The video below is of a "Teaching Mass." The priest explains everything he uses at Mass, how he dresses for Mass, and what is going on at Mass. It is a bit long, but well done and informative.
