Faith Formation has a number of volunteer Teams: Family Formation, Youth Ministry, RCIA, Adult/Lifelong Learning. These are groups of interested parishioners who help brainstorm and implement plans for faith formation programs in the Parish. If any of these teams interest you, please contact Kelley Tansey at [email protected].
Children's Liturgy of the Word is a ministry that occurs during the Sunday morning Mass and is aimed at children ages 3-7. At the beginning of Mass, an adult prayer leader will be called up along with the children to receive a blessing and the Children's Lectionary. They then process out to the Children's Prayer Space (located next to the bathrooms in the Gathering Space) where the prayer leader proclaims the day's readings to the children from the Children's Lectionary. They discuss the readings, sing songs, and pray together before returning to their parents in the pews before the consecration of the Eucharist. Volunteers in this ministry serve as prayer leaders as part of a rotation that changes monthly. The CLOW Team meets occasionally as needed. Teens and adults are welcome to serve in this ministry.
The Family Formation Team meets monthly to discuss the upcoming month's Family Formation program. Volunteers on the FF Team serve as catechists, babysitters, hospitality and guest speakers at parent meetings. The Family Formation program serves families with children in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. These families gather once a month for faith formation at the parish and then complete the rest of their work at home. All interested teens and adult parishioners are welcome to be part of the FF Team.
Youth Ministry serves youth in grades 7-12, including those preparing for Confirmation. Youth Ministry meets every week on Wednesday evenings during the school year. We are using a small group format to encourage community building and faith sharing. The Youth Ministry Team of volunteers meets monthly as a team, outside of the regular weekly youth gathering, to plan for upcoming sessions and any special events, such as service opportunities and retreats.
When older youth and adults wish to receive the sacraments, they need people to accompany them through this process. We are looking to create a team that will help develop a year-round RCIA program in our parish. Having a year-round program means that if someone approaches the parish and is interested in starting this process, they do not have to wait for a class starting at a set time of year. We want to be able to immediately start working with them. We are looking for volunteers to work directly with inquirers on faith formation and/or breaking open the word at Mass. No expertise necessary- just a love of your faith and a desire to walk with someone on this journey.
Faith Formation does NOT end with Confirmation. We are looking to build a team of parishioners who are interested in developing lifelong learning opportunities for parishioners of all ages. This could mean guest speakers, parish missions, small faith groups, group studies, or other special events. Join this team to help create opportunities for all members of our parish community.
